COMPETITION PIANOS: Steinway & Sons graciously provides the grand pianos for the Competition and its related events. Competitors will be scheduled for action testing on the performance piano on March 8.


COMPETITION ROUNDS: The 2015 Hilton Head International Piano Competition for Young Artists consists of three rounds of competition. Rounds I and II give each of the competitors a total of 55 minutes of solo recital performance time; there is no elimination between Rounds I and II. Round III is the Finals, during which 5 finalists each perform, with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, a movement/movements of a concerto chosen from the 2015 Approved Concerto List.


COMPETITOR SELECTION JURY:  The Competitor Selection Jury will evaluate, without discussion, all video audition files on the basis of commonly accepted musical criteria and will review each applicant’s Curriculum Vitae in its entirety.  From the applicant pool, the Jury will then select twenty (20) individuals to compete in the 2015 Hilton Head International Piano Competition for Young Artists. The jury will also provide a list of alternates.  The Jury’s decision is final.


HOST FAMILY ACCOMMODATIONS: Competitors and any accompanying chaperones stay in the homes of  host families, who provide lodging, meals, transportation, and a grand piano for practice for the duration of the Competition.
