Leung - Ryan.png (2)Ryan Leung, age 17, started studying piano and violin at a very young age. He was admitted to the Junior Music Department of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts (HKAPA) at the age of six, majoring in piano. In 2013, he was awarded the Music Scholarship to study at Eton College.  He obtained his LTCL Diploma and LRSM in piano in 2015, all with distinctions.

Ryan has won many local and overseas competitions, including the Seattle Piano Competition in 2008, where he also won the Audience’s Favorite Award; the United States Open Music Competition in 2009; and the Junior Exhibitioner Award (2010) and the Tom Lee Music Scholarship (2013) at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.  He also was awarded the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Grant for Talented Students in 2011. Ryan has frequently performed in concerts in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, and has also played a four-hand piece with the renowned pianist Lang Lang at the age of ten in a charity concert of the UNICEF in Hong Kong. He was one of the twelve finalists in the Ettlingen International Piano Competition for Young Pianists held in Germany in August 2016.

Ryan studied with Mr. Kin-wai Shum and Prof. Gabriel Kwok while living in Hong Kong. Currently he is under the tutelage of Mr. David Goode and Prof. Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music in London.
