The Hilton Head International Piano Competition
is proud to introduce the
2011 Hilton Head International Young Artists Piano Competition
This inaugural HHIYAPC will be held March 7 - 12, 2011, beginning a two-year cycle in odd-numbered years

The 2011 HHIYAPC Application Brochure and Form will be available June 1, 2010


GENERAL INFORMATION



DATES: March 7-12, 2011

AGES:

All applicants must be at least 13 years of age on March 7, 2011 and not older than 17 years of age on March 12, 2011. The HHIYAPC welcomes pianists of all nationalities.


ELIGIBILITY:

Any applicant who is related to, or who has ever studied with, a member of the 2011 Competitor Selection Jury or the 2011 Competition Jury [excluding master classes and summer study programs] 1) as a private student, 2) as a student enrolled at a University or School of Music, or 3) has been coached by a member of either of the 2011 Juries in preparation for the 2011 Hilton Head International Young Artists Piano Competition will not be eligible for this Competition. Applicants who are not eligible for consideration for the 2011 Competition are encouraged to apply to the next Hilton Head International Young Artists Piano Competition, March of 2013.

FORMAT: Three Rounds of Competition. No elimination between Rounds I & II

ROUND I 22 to 25 minute program, including time between movements & pieces
ROUND II 27 to 30 minute program, including time between movements & pieces
ROUND III 6 Finalists perform a piece from the 2011 HHIYAPC List of Pieces for Piano and Orchestra with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra

PRIZES:

FIRST PRIZE: $5,000 cash prize
Aspen Scholarship - Summer of 2012 (4 weeks)
Performance with Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra (2011-2012)

SECOND PRIZE: $3,000 cash prize
THIRD PRIZE: $2,000 cash prize
FOURTH PRIZE: $500 cash prize
FIFTH PRIZE: $500 cash prize
SIXTH PRIZE: $500 cash prize

ACCOMODATIONS: Host Families with Grand Pianos for Competitor & Adult Chaperone

AIR TRANSPORTATION: Up to $500 Reimbursement for Competitor

APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 30, 2010
