Each year since 2009 the artwork featured on the cover of the Hilton Head International Piano Competition Program and all other Competition publicity is the product of a successful collaboration between the Competition and the Savannah College of Art and Design and Armstrong Atlantic State University. The HHIPC was searching for a way to tap into the creativity of young visual artists in order to bring a fresh, unique appeal to the young pianists whom the Competition seeks to attract. Eighty students from the Illustration Department at SCAD participated in the inaugural 2009 Artist Competition. The HHIPC decided to make this Cover Art competition an annual artist competition with the belief that artwork by young artists will appeal to all generations. In 2010, the Art Department of SCAD joined the Illustration Department and 37 works were presented for adjudication. In 2012 Armstrong Atlantic State University joined the competition. This year the 2015 winning artwork and First Prize of $1000 was awarded to Leta Tsai a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
