MASTER CLASSES • LECTURE/RECITALS

The Hilton Head International Piano Competition proudly offers Master Classes during the competitions, given by the Competition judges. Participants are chosen by the judges from among the competitors who do not advance to the final round.  Each judge will give a public lesson on compositions from the competitor’s Competition repertoire.  The pairings of judges and competitors are announced by the Jury Chairman following the announcement of the advancing competitors. The Jury Chair will give a special Lecture/Recital in lieu of a Master Class.

In the third year of the rotation, the BravoPiano! Festival, lecture/recitals or lectures are also offered by some of the performing artists or notables in the fields of classical or jazz musical genres.

SCHOOL AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The Hilton Head International Piano Competition continues to offer its School Ambassador Program, introduced at the 2003 Competition. Participating competitors have the opportunity to perform selections from their Competition repertoire and/or favorite native works, for students in Hilton Head Island and Bluffton area schools and to dialogue with them about the competitor’s musical study and life in their home countries.  Performers participating in the BravoPiano! Festival also visit area schools to entertain and educate students by sharing their piano artistry.  This program is supported by a grant from the Gulfstream Corporation.
