Technically dazzling and intellectually probing artistry exemplify Ran Dank‘s pianism and musicality.

In the 2017/2018 season Ran Dank performs Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and Eckart Preu, Bartok Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra led by Ken Lam, Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Portland Symphony and Ken-David Masur, Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Spokane Symphony and Morihiko Nakamura, and finishes with Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2, The Age of Anxiety with the Kansas City Symphony and Michael Stern for their season finale.  He performs recitals in a return to Pro Musica San Miguel de Allende and chamber music with the Amernet Quartet at Maverick Concerts, and has duo appearances with pianist Soyeon Kate Lee for the Hilton Head Symphony and the Cleveland Piano Competition.

During the 2016/2017 season he appeared in recital at the Ravinia Festival, performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Vermont Symphony led by Jaime Laredo, and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Toledo Symphony led by Marcelo Lehninger.  He performed duo recitals with Soyeon Kate Lee at the Smithsonian Institute, Cincinnati’s Linton Music, and Le Poisson Rouge in New York City.

Recent orchestral engagements include Liszt Totentanz and Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Jerusalem Symphony, Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at Alice Tully Hall with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Kevin Puts’ Night for piano and orchestra with the Mobile Symphony, the Grieg Concerto with the Asheville Symphony, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Ashland Symphony, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Phoenix and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony, and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Charleston Symphony.

Recitals appearances have included the Gilmore Piano Festival, New York City Town Hall recital for Peoples Symphony Concerts, Washington Performing Arts Society at the Kennedy Center, the Chopin Festival in Warsaw, Finland’s Mantta Festival, Philip Lorenz Memorial Concerts in Fresno,  the Israel Conservatory of Music and chamber music at the Seattle, Montreal, Israel, Great Lakes, and Skaneateles Chamber Music festivals, and at Maverick Concerts with the Shanghai Quartet.

With Soyeon Kate Lee he performed the world premiere of Alexander Goehr’s Seven Impromptus for two pianos at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and among the many duo recitals they have given include Portland Ovations, the JCC of Rockville, Bargemusic, Ames Town and Gown Association in Iowa, the Hawaii Concert Association, and the world premiere of Fredric Rzewski’s “Four Hands” at (le) Poisson Rouge.

He completed Doctoral studies with Ursula Oppens and Richard Goode at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York as a Chancellor’s Fellow, and previously received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University in his native Israel and a Master’s Degree and Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School.  He is Assistant Professor of Piano at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Ran Dank and Soyeon Kate Lee have established a series of concerts, Music by the Glass, held in a New York So-Ho art gallery, where the audience of young professionals listen, mix and mingle with performing artists who play solo pieces and chamber works accompanied by treats sweet and savory paired with wines, by the glass.  A delightful explanation of these popular events may be viewed on the organization’s website www.musicbytheglass.com.

The recipient of numerous honors, Ran Dank won a coveted place on the Young Concert Artists roster in 2009 and subsequently made his New York recital debut sponsored by YCA and the Jerome L.Greene Foundation at Merkin Hall December 14, 2009.  He was a laureate of the Cleveland International Competition, the Naumburg Piano Competition and the Sydney International Piano Competition and First Prize winner of the Hilton Head International Piano Competition.
