Tristan-Teo-Canada

Eighteen year old Tristan Teo was born in Vancouver, Canada where he started piano lessons at age six under the tutelage of Sasha Starcevich.   He graduated from high school with honors at fifteen and is currently in his third year of the Bachelor of Music program at The Juilliard School, studying with Jerome Lowenthal.  Tristan is a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at The Juilliard School.

Other awards he has received include First Prize in the solo and concerto Virginia Waring International Piano Competitions’ Intermediate division in 2011, Second Prize in  the 2011 ePiano International Competition, 1st prize and the Gold Medal at the 5th Bösendorfer and Schimmel USASU International Piano Junior Competition as well as the Senderov Award for the most outstanding performance of a composition by a Russian composer; Prizewinner in the 2010 Cooper International Piano Competition, and Second Place at the 2014 PianoArts North American Piano Competition.  Most recently Tristan also won the 2015 Gina Bachauer Piano Competition at The Juilliard School.

Since his orchestral debut at age ten, Tristan has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum, the Minnesota Orchestra at Orchestra Hall, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.  He has given solo recitals in the United States, as well as in Canada, France, Germany, and Italy in venues including Salle Cortot in Paris and the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, California.  He has also played for noted pianists Christopher Elton, Peter Frankl, Gary Graffman, Alexander Korsantia, Robert Levin, and Ilana Vered.
