Yukyeong-Ji-South-Korea

2015 was a special year for Yukyeong Ji.  She won 3rd prize at the Concurso Internacional Santa Cecília in Porto.  At the Concours International de Piano Clara Haskil, as a finalist, she won 3 of the 4 special prizes: Public Prize, Coup de cœur prize of the young critique, and Children’s Corner prize. In the final, she played with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne conducted by Maestro Christian Zacharias.

Ms. Ji studied at Sunhwa Arts High School with Prof. Young Bang Cho (2005-2007).  She graduated Summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Music degree from Seoul National University, under the tutelage of Prof. Kwihyun Kim in 2011. Since 2012 she has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with Prof. Roland Krüger.  In 2013, she was the recipient of the “Live Music Now Hannover” scholarship from the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation.  After receiving her Master’s degree with the highest honors in 2014, she is now pursuing her Solo Performance Course.

Yukyeong has performed in master classes with Young Bang Cho, Roland Krüger, Piotr Paleczny, Vladimir Viardo, and Oxana Yablonskaya. She has played concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in Seoul, Hannover, and Berlin. As a frequent guest pianist with Ensemble TIMF (Tongyeong International Music Foundation), the most prestigious contemporary music ensemble in Asia, Ms. Ji’s programs often include Korean or world premieres of contemporary ensemble literature by Gérald Grisey, Heiner Goebbels, and many Korean composers. Her contemporary music honors include 3rd prize at the Bertold Hummel Competition in 2013, dedicated to the German composer Bertold Hummel, and the Isang Yun special prize at the Orléans Concours International de Piano in 2014.
