Jinyoung Kweon

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Jinyoung started her piano studies at the age of eight. She studied music and piano at the Seoul Arts Center Music Academy and the Korea National Institute for Gifted in Arts. She then attended Yewon School, the leading school for arts education in Korea. At present, she is a Grade 9 student at BC Collegiate (international school) in Seoul.

She won the second prize at the 2018 Ettlingen International Competition for Young Pianists (Germany) and has received first prize in many competitions in Korea, including the Ewha & Kyunghyang Concours, the Korea Chopin Competition, the Eumak-Sekye Competition, the Korea Herald Competition, the Eum-Youn Competition, and the Eumak-Chunchu Competition.

Her concert and recital performances include the Kirishima International Music Festival in Japan, as well as many others in Korea including the Kumho Here & Now Prodigy Concert Series – 20th Anniversary, the Korea Young Artist Music Festival, the Korean Chamber Orchestra Prodigy Concert, the Kumho Prodigy Concert – Solo Recital, the Little Mozart Recital, the Young Artist Concert, and the Seoul Arts Center Music Academy Concert.

Jinyoung has been taking private lessons from Julius-Jeongwon Kim and has attended master classes with Jacques Rouvier, Dang Thai Son, Alexander Svyatkin, Susumu Aoyagi, and Aviram Reichert. In her free time, she loves to go to the ballet and concerts as well as watching musicals and movies. She also enjoys listening to music and playing with her pet dog.
