Michigan-born Naomi Yamaguchi made her orchestral debut at age eight and her recital debut when she was nine. Appearances since include the Detroit Institute of Arts, Consulate-General of Japan, Cranbrook Music Guild, Pro Musica Detroit, Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, Boston College Club, and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies of the United States. Her performances have been broadcast on WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase and she was featured on NPR’s From the Top, recorded at Jordan Hall in Boston.

Naomi toured in Poland as a winner of the Jeune Chopin Competition, held through the patronage of Martha Argerich. Naomi recently performed a solo concert at Żelazowa Wola (Chopin’s birthplace) organized by the National Institute of Frederic Chopin in Warsaw. She is the winner of the Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition, Michigan, Ohio Music Teachers Association Competition, the Quincy Symphony Concerto Competition, and the National Federation of Music Composition Competition. She was selected as the Ruth Laredo Foundation’s Young Artist of the Year 2017 and is a scholarship recipient of the Chopin Foundation of the United States, and the James Tatum Foundation for the Arts. Naomi has participated in festivals such as Perugia Music Fest, Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts in Boston, and International Festival Radziejowice (Poland), where she worked with renowned artists including Boris Berman, Hung-Kuan Chen, Alexander Korsantia, Marina Lomazov, John O’Conor, Boris Slutsky, Dang Thai Son and Oxana Yablonskaya.

Naomi has studied piano with Sean Schulze at the Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory School. She currently attends the New England Conservatory Preparatory School where she studies piano with Hitomi Koyama and Victor Rosenbaum, is a member of A. Ramon Rivera Piano Seminar, and plays in a piano trio in the chamber music program.
