Eden Chen started studying piano when he was six.  Since age seven, Eden has competed and placed in many piano competitions, and has won numerous top prizes, among them, an orchestral debut performing Mozart’s Coronation Concerto, No.26 in D major with the Southwestern Music Festival Orchestra, after he won First Prize in the Young Pianist category in 2010.  In the same year, he also won the Grand Prize at the American Fine Arts Festival Golden Era of Romantic Music International Competition, and received the special prize for the Best Performance of a work by Liszt.

In 2012, Eden won a Gold Medal at the AADGT International Young Musicians Festival and received Second Prize at the 13thInternational Russian Music Piano Competition.  He also was invited to perform a solo concert at the American Jewish University.  The next year, he was selected to perform on NPR’s From the Top radio show.  Eden has also been named a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist, and was awarded $10,000 in scholarship funds.

Most recently, Eden received Second Place at the MostArts Festival 2014 Piano Competition.  Besides these awards, he has given four performances at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in the past few years.

Eden is currently studying with Rufus Choi. His first teacher was Elena Makarova. He has studied with Ory Shihor and Myong-joo Lee at The Colburn Academy, and participated in master classes given by esteemed musicians including Lang Lang, Daniel Pollack, Seymour Bernstein, Hung-Kuan Chen, Jerome Lowenthal and Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
