Yuval Chen
Born in Israel, Yuval began piano studies at age seven, studying for many years with Inna Rubin. He then studied with Asaf Zohar at the Buchmann Mehta School of Music at Tel-Aviv University from 2014 to 2018. Currently he is in New York studying with Veda Kaplinsky at The Juilliard School. Yuval has been a prizewinner in several competitions: first prize- the Rafi Gorlnik prize and the Audience Award– in the Aviv competitions by the ACIF (2018), first prize in the National Competition Piano Forever (Ashdod, Israel 2015), second prize in the Voice of Music Young Artists Competition (Jerusalem 2015), and first prize in the Ra’anana Municipal Competition (multiple years).
Yuval has received scholarships from the American-Israel Cultural Foundation, including a merit scholarship beginning in 2014 to the present. He has performed as soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra IBA, Ra’anana Symphonette, Ashdod Symphony Orchestra, The Beer Sheva Sinfonietta and with radio station Kol HaMusica. He has taken courses and has participated in master classes at The Aspen Music Festival and School, Tel Hai International Piano Master Classes, North London Music School, Young Piano Artists courses for distinguished pianists (Aldwell Center, Jerusalem) with Sir András Schiff, Murray Perahia, Menahem Pressler, Christoph Eschenbach, Veda Kaplinsky, Tatiana Zelikman, Michael Schnider, Suan Wang and Jerome Leventhal among others.
