Joshua Wong is a gifted student studying at Mount Royal University Conservatory in Calgary, Alberta in the Advanced Piano Performance Program. He started piano lessons at the age of six. The following year he began participating in piano competitions at the Calgary Music (now Performing Arts) Festival, winning annual scholarships and first prizes in many different classes. Since beginning his studies with University of Calgary Professor Marilyn Engle at age eight, he has been selected to represent Calgary six times at the Provincial Music Festival and has won numerous medals by achieving the highest mark at the festival in different categories. He was a first-place and scholarship winner in the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Provincial Music Festivals. In 2018 he was selected as a representative of the province of Alberta to compete in the National Music Festival. He was the winner of the prestigious Rose Bowl in 2019, which goes to the top competitor at the annual Calgary Performing Arts Festival. An active participant in the Canadian Music Competition, Joshua has been selected as a National Finalist every year since entering the competition and has placed near the top nationally; he was awarded first place in 2019. Other awards include first place in the Steinway Piano Competition in 2018 and he was a prize winner in the 2018 OSM Competition in Montreal.

Joshua has performed for pianists Alessio Bax, John O’Conor, Ronan O’Hora and Roman Rabinovich, as well as for Professors Aquiles Delle Vigne, Gabriel Kwok, and Andrey Pisarev at both the 2016 and 2017 Coimbra World Piano Meetings in Portugal. He also received awards for outstanding achievement in Coimbra in both 2016 and 2017. Joshua was honored to be selected as a winner of the C3 Concerto Competition in 2017 (Alberta) and he performed with the Calgary Civic Symphony in April 2017.

Aside from his piano awards, Joshua was once a competitive swimmer and currently holds a Canadian age group record in the 200-meter medley relay.
