Ruisi Lao was born in Shanghai China. He is currently studying at Shanghai Middle School which is affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music He has been studying with Professor Zhe Tang since the age of six. Ruisi has won numerous prizes including first prize at the 9th Yamaha USASU International Piano Competition (2019), first prize at the Shanghai Open Competition (2019), first prize at the Horowitz International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Ukraine (2016), and second prize, Barenreiter Prize, and Young Talent prizes at the Ettlingen International Piano Competition in Germany (2014) at the age of nine.

Ruisi has attended the Shanghai International Piano Festival & Institute, the Osaka International Music Festival, and the International Artists Festival in Italy. He has been invited to give performances at Carnegie Hall (2018) and the Shanghai Grand Theater as well as other performance venues in France, Italy, Germany, Japan and Finland.
